Return of One Measly Dollar

January 29, 2006

I finally found some time to get One Measly Dollar back up and running. Somehow the database got borked and it took me about two weeks to find the time to fix it. Gave me a chance to upgrade to WordPress 2.0, that’s about the only plus out of the incident though.

Fortunately nearly all the posts had been picked up by my Suprglu account so I am going to grab and repost them.

Bounced over to here to grab my WordPress API key and noticed new themes since I first got the account, I kinda like this one.

Dreamhost Promo Saves you $50

October 15, 2005

In a cheesy and lame effort to try to get some easy cash I’ve created a $50 off promo code (“YAHTZEEN50″) for all new DreamHost customers. DreamHost is a wonderful web hosting company that has been the best I’ve ever done business with in the ten plus years I’ve been involved with the Web. Yes I do earn some money from this, $47 to be exact, but I’ve given just a little over half of the referral reward to you. Once you’ve joined you too can earn up to $97 per referral too, it’s like some crazy pyramid scheme but I’ve had three referrals already (friends actually so I can’t vouch for how many you’ll get other than people you know).

I’m sure somebody could figure out a way to make a fair share of money with this but you’d probably need to be more organized than me. I mean I’ve been with them about three months and tonight is the first time I’m even bothering to try using the referral code generator. We’ll see how it goes.

I like Hockey Night

October 2, 2005

Caught a great band the other night called Hockey Night at the Great Northern. Some kids from Red Wing, MN that have relocated to St. Paul and bang out some of the best indie rock I’ve heard in years. Two guitars, a bass player and two drummers. Hockey Night was like .38 Special mashed with Pavement mashed with Lynard Skynard, it was simply amazing.

The LOST Wiki

October 1, 2005

There isn’t too much on The LOST Wiki yet but I hope Tony can get some more interest from the online community of LOST viewers. Trolling the LOST message boards scattered about can turn up lots of info, it would be nice though to have it all organized and using MediaWiki to do it is a great idea.

I started using MediaWiki myself a few months ago to run the Fargo Band Family Tree, an effort to chronicle the Fargo-Moorhead punk/indie scene over the last 20+ years. My only gripe with MediaWiki is that it isn’t the easiest thing to change the look of, which is why I’ve left it entirely out-of-the-box in my case.

Anyway I hope I can find some time to contribute to the LOST wiki, I absolutely love that show.

Addicted to 2.0

September 30, 2005

I’m guessing a lot of geeks, freaks and dorks like myself can’t keep themselves from signing up for any private beta (just signed up myself for Openomy) of the rash of new web2.0 type of sites popping up. Now thanks to Emily Chang I should never have to go without a fix as she has started a page that collects them all in one spot called ehub, click away web2.0 addicts!

What a Great Day

September 29, 2005

First I find out Rollyo is out of private beta so that I can talk about it and then I get my Golden Ticket invite to wordpress.com. My first impression is that they’ve done a pretty good job here, I can’t wait to have a little more time to play around with it. Right now though my Tivo is calling my name to watch tonight’s episode of Lost.

So thanks for the invite guys!
